Seeds do not need nutrients to germinate because they already contain all the necessary nutrients and energy within themselves to support the initial stages of growth. The embryo within the seed is packed with stored food reserves, such as carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, which provide the energy and nutrients needed for germination and early growth. These reserves sustain the seedling until it can establish its own root system and begin to photosynthesize and produce its own food. Therefore, seeds are able to germinate and start growing without needing external sources of nutrients. **
